Bowen

After a very long day driving yesterday , we woke up feeling refreshed and looking forward to starting our holiday. We had a lovely breakfast at our favourite restaurant in Bowen, and then wandered around buying the few things we had forgotten. We went into a small camping shop looking for a 12 volt shower, we were just about to pay for it when Iain looked up and hanging from the ceiling was a canvas bucket with a brass shower head at the bottom. It is fantastic you simply hang it up, put water in the bucket and you have a shower. The best thing is it collapses flat, amazing what you find when not buying from the chinese stocked camping stores.

The afternoon was spent at the beach, working on our all over tans and exploring the rockpools, I found a sea cucumber happily chugging along with a hermit crab tucked up against it. There was an incredible amount of coral washed up onto the beaches, eveytime I bent to pick up a piece all I would hear is "we don't have any room in the car".

We decided to go for a long walk early evening to make up for all the junk food we had eaten yesterday in an effort to keep awake and concentrating on driving. Walking on the beach at sunset was truly magical.
